    Fiber Cement Cladding Installation Details

    Fiber cement claddings and boards have excellent adhesive properties, various types of cement mixtures are well combined with them. This option is useful because claddings are used as a layer between concrete and tiles. As a result, hydro-, sound- and thermal insulation is achieved, the surface of the wall or floor is leveled, there is no need for long and costly wall sanding, ceramic tiles last longer.

    In many cases, fiber cement cladding installation requires a special approach. It is recommended to install profiles only at a certain step distance (more detailed information in the table and on the diagrams). So, the distance between the bearing elements made of steel or aluminum is from 400 mm to 600 mm in width, and 400-1200 mm in length. At the same time, it is necessary to strictly observe the dependence of the installation parameters of fiber cement boards regarding the thickness of each board.

    Below is the recommended distance between fasteners (screws) in mm, depending on the board thickness and location. It is highly recommended not to exceed these values.

    It is not possible to install a fiber cement board without observing certain tolerance standards!

    The gap between the board and the insulation layer when applying a ventilated facade technology should be 20-30 mm.

    M-profiles should be additionally fixed with horizontal guides before the board installation.

    Leave 3-4 mm gap between the boards. Treat the seams with acrylic or polyurethane paste. The surface can be painted with water-based acrylic paints.

    After installing the interior panels, it is recommended to thoroughly vacuum the room.

    When installing, make sure that there are no such defects:

    • The self-tapping screw is tightened up too deep (passes through the board);
    • The self-tapping screw is not screwed into the board to the end;
    • The self-tapping screw is tightened up at an angle;
    • The self-tapping screw is too close to the clip edge. The best location is in the center;
    • It is better to cut fiber cement boards in a well-ventilated area, using a wooden support.


    This process requires slightly different installation technology. At the same time, the price of installing fiber cement siding should not differ significantly.

    The basic rule is lap siding. Fiber cement siding from our supplier is a thin board with a natural wood texture, which looks high-priced, especially in low-rise construction.

    Basic installation rules:

    • The distance between the fasteners should be not more than 400 mm;
    • Installation should be carried out in the bottom-up direction;
    • The minimum lap distance should be 30 mm;
    • The minimum distance from the self-tapping screw to the edge of the carrier pile should be 20 mm;
    • The self-tapping screw should be located in the M-profile center;
    • Butt joints should be lubricated with acrylic or polyurethane paste;
    • Ventilation between the fiber cement siding layer and the insulation;
    • The siding cutting should be done with the manufacturer’s special discs, diamond cutting discs, or other discs designed for concrete.
    • It should be cut from the outer part to the inner, using the supports.
    • Siding boards must be completely dry. Don’t install in rain.
